Sande Church ((ノルウェー語:Sande kyrkje)) is a parish church in Sande Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located in the village of Sande on the southern shore of the island of Sandsøya. The church is part of the Sande parish in the Søre Sunnmøre deanery in the Diocese of Møre. The white, wooden church was built in 1880 by the architect Jon Sefland. The church seats about 400 people.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Sande kyrkje, Sunnmøre )〕 ==History== Sandsøya has been a church site since the Middle Ages. The earliest known church was a stave church that was first mentioned in 1329. A historical record from 1709 mentions a church at Sande with two towers. That church was torn down in 1835. A new church was built on the same spot but it was heavily damaged in storms in 1863 and in 1874, so Jon Sefland from Nordfjordeid was hired to repair the church, but after studying the church it was decided to tear down the old church. Sefland then designed and built a new church to replace the older one. The new church was completed in 1880.
